NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department Seventh District is asking for the local public’s assistance in locating missing 17 year old Avia Britton out of the New Orleans, Louisiana area.
Avia was last seen on February 17, 2017 when her mother sent her to Florida to stay with her grandmother. At this time she was wearing blue pants and a yellow shirt. On February 20, 2017 the grandmother sent Avia home to New Orleans. Upon Avia’s flight arrival her mother searched the airport for her to no avail. Avia called her mother to say that she had travelled to their home on the 7800 Block of Shamrock Street, New Orleans. The mother told Avia to go to a relative’s house until she could return home from work. Avia never arrived at said relative’s home.
Avia is a habitual runaway and has been in contact with her mother but refuses to return home or give her location. She will only say that she is staying with a friend she identifies as ‘Kerail’.
Avia is described as:
• GENDER: Female.
• ETHNICITY: Black.
• HAIR: Long black weave.
• EYES: Brown.
• HEIGHT: five feet five inches.
• WEIGHT: 130 pounds.
